PAINTING EXHIBITION by artist-Painter NGUYEN DUY LINH

INTRODUCTION:
-----
Gentle autumn, the interim between fiery summer and bitter winter, stirs the artist’s deepest emotions. The sixteen paintings in this exhibition, “Flying Autumn,” relay artist Nguyen Duy Linh’s reflection upon the dreamy and romantic autumn of former capital city Hue.
-----
At times, he sets aside ample space to denote the quiet and peaceful countryside of fond remembrance (Chau E, Hue in Fog, Earth Memento). At times, he covers entire canvases with layers upon layers of colorful strokes, recreating depth and affection. Autumn’s dynamism is highlighted with generous sweeps of vivid colors, like grass quivering or leaves chasing each other in the wind. Patches of bright, cheerful colors coexist with dark, melancholic ones, bespeaking the polarity of autumn. (Flying Autumn 1, 5, 7, 8)
-----
Season’s end brings with it agitation in the air, as if autumn is clinging on, letting out a lingering last breath. Wind blows, blows the cloud, blows the fog, blows the leaves… Autumn takes her last fly throughout Hue. “Flying Autumn” is the emotions of the artist caught in the fly, painted into poetic pictures with alluring flourish, grasping onto those wondrous moments.
